GENERAL INFORMATION

CRITERIA

Artists, 18 years or older and living in the Central Coast of California, in all arts and crafts disciplines are welcome to apply.

Artwork must be original, hand­crafted, and produced by the Artist / Artisan. Commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, prefabricated forms, mass-produced and imported goods are not eligible.

Examples of acceptable arts and crafts:

Small 2-D artworks: photography, paintings, prints, drawings, mixed media, etc.

Small 3-D artworks: sculpture, tiles, mosaics, functional art, etc.

Crafts: fiber arts, leather, beading, weaving, ceramics, wood, metal, etc. Jewelry, hand crafted clothing, accessories, handcrafted gift cards, ornaments, etc.

Given our experience, we strongly suggest this price range: most items priced under $100        

The work exhibited must be consistent with the application submitted by the Artist / Artisan - Compliance will be verified during the application process and sale.

All participants must agree to abide by all Rules and Regulations.

Applicants invited to participate in the sale will also be required to sign a Liability Waiver/Legal Agreement and pay a non-refundable Participation Fee.

APPLYING AS A GROUP

  • Each individual group participant must complete an online application, submit three photographs of their work, and sign the liability waiver.
  • Please check the group box and indicate your group name on the application.
  • If you participated in a group last year and you are the soul remaining group participant, you will retain your priority status.
  • If you want to break off from your group, and request an individual space, you will need to apply again through the juried process.8
  • Adding new participants to the group requires the new participant to be juried in.
  • Each group will share a 4’ x 8’ table.

NEW ARTISTS / ARTISANS PLEASE SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

Three Images

  • Submit 3 images of your artwork that represent the arts or crafts you will be selling.
  • Jpg images no larger than 6MB at 72ppi
  • All images submitted to the Moss Landing Arts & Crafts Holiday Gift Sale may be used for promotional purposes before, during, and after the sale. Images will be credited if used.

Artist’s Statement

  • Submit a short artists statement, which will be used to promote the event.
  • Tell us what moves you, what drives you, how you came to art, and how art fits into your life.
  • Your statement should describe your creative process, as well as, techniques and materials used.
  • This statement will also be used to promote the event.

JURY PROCESS

  • This competitive show is limited to 25 Artists / Artisans, juried by The Movers and Makers.
  • Returning Artists / Artisans skip the jury process, and are given first priority.
  • New Artists / Artisans are juried based on locality, artist’s statement, and price range.
  • Next, the images of the arts and crafts are scored for quality, originality and bringing variety to the sale.

RETURNING ARTISTS / ARTISANS

  • Returning Artists / Artisans will be invited to participate in the sale again and will have priority status. To maintain priority status, the work must be of similar quality and art form, and meet the application criteria; otherwise the Movers and Makers reserve the right to disqualify the prior participant.
  • After the Returning Artists / Artisans Participation Fee is received, a Liability Waiver / Legal Agreement will be sent. The Participation Fee is non-refundable.
  • Confirmation will be sent via email and telephone to Returning Artists / Artisans who have completed the process.
  • Returning Artists/Artisans who have not met these requirements by the deadlines will forfeit their participation. These spaces will then be offered to New Artists/Artisans during the call-to-artists period.
  • Please refer to the “Important Deadlines: Dates at a Glance” below.

NEW ARTISTS / ARTISANS

  • “Call to Artists” will go out.
  • Acceptance notifications will be sent via email and telephone to the New Artists / Artisans that will be invited to participate in the sale.
  • Upon acceptance, the Rules and Regulations and Liability Waiver / Legal Agreement, as well as, instructions for paying the Participation Fee will be sent to the New Artists / Artisans. The Participation Fee is non-refundable.
  • New Artists / Artisans who have not met these requirements by the deadlines will forfeit their participation. These spaces will then be offered to our artists/artisans waiting list.
  • Please refer to the “Important Deadlines: Dates at a Glance” below.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES - DATES AT A GLANCE

April 22nd - Returning Artists / Artisans Participation Fee DUE.

April 29th - Returning Artists / Artisans sign the Rules & Regulations and Liability Waiver /  Legal Agreement documents.

June 1st - “Call to Artists” beginning if there are spaces available.

August 31st - New Artists / Artisans Applications DUE.

September 8th - New Artists / Artisans Notification of Acceptance.

September 18th - All Artists / Artisans $50 Participation Fee DUE and sign the Rules & Regulations and Liability Waiver /  Legal Agreement documents.

The Last Saturday in October - Orientation / Welcome / Informational Meeting (mandatory).

The Saturday after Thanksgiving - Moss Landing Arts & Crafts Holiday Gift Sale (no rain date)
